Desk Calendar Wisdom

Eye write those daily astrology columns
that everyone reads - everyone denies them
You know you are looking for something in common
like a first blind date that you want to work out
so you dress up your expectations
and you trot out your best smiles
and you beam golden bridgework
and you actually listen (for a while)
until something goes HORRIBLY wrong
she is a Nazi-you are a Fascist
she says something about your origins
you insult her to her face
the evening is a sabotaged disgrace
just like the 134 other evenings you set up
to fail in much the same way
even ants must learn the many languages of rain
even love must learn how to embrace loss and pain
