Thom the World Poet - 'Poem For Madrid'

Poem For Madrid

Spanish Civil War -
PAZ ? PASS!

Exploding trains
Withdrawing troops

Off the rails -
war!

Cell phone sabotage
Back packs off tracks.

How many civilians dead?
before troops withdraw?

Goya lives!
in shattered flesh
train wrecks...

ETA? CIA? D.O.A!

Bombing soft targets
Hard questions
Cross examinations
Interrogations
Ghosts and shadows...
Posthumous

Remote control devices -
Consciences.

Flowers of civilian blood
Fertilise Spanish battlefields

Killings only stop
when enough people say -
PAZ!

Bull versus swords
beaten into ploughshares

Grief
for loss
of peace

Post-traumatic
peace dis-orders...

War? Paz?
Collaterally damaged...

It takes one million people
to say that all people need
to be safe

If you cannot change war
Change a government to one
who will

After bomb blasts -
Travelers. Cautious,

Every train carries
ghosts, shadows, reminders
passengers at peace...

When you died
for no reason
Eye had to create one -
PAZ!

In another language -
Bombs translate to peace.

Peace is a process
subject to demonstration.
