Marqus Bobesich - 'Cruise Ship'

Cruise Ship

this bullet of a boat
these grandiose, high-speed goodbyes
most days I don't exist,
but now, now, I'm dancing with your girl

the clocks spin us into being, the two of us
all bad legs and cleavage
she knows what she is doing (what people have done)
all that kissing up a storm on legs

we'll discover on the starboard deck that all
poetry is a finding out
(finding holes in holes)
a ballet of forgiveness

and if this soaring self-esteem should linger
we'll be handcuffed to horses,
pinned to that trail of a volcano (always moving forward)
pounded back to life by the rumble and the roar
