Marqus Bobesich - 'All My Friends are Girls'

All My Friends Are Girls

I live in the land of cakes and pies, where we
rush home to flip the calendar.
where happiness is everywhere you go.

why would we go back -
to taste the lips of yesterday? as it
overtakes?

the pre-planned photo of our lives -
never hot, or
sudden.

we're told to take care of the moment,
that endless charge
ever sweeping you forward

and to relinquish the goods -
these little stories
these endless stacks of the unfinished

so flip my calendar for me -
this is my final date with a bridge
the moment I settle for nothing less than everything

make note of the time and place,
the earthquake in my pants - with no one getting killed
and no significant shift of anything
