Jacob Gray - 'Like Father'

Like Father

At the age of fifty
he's waiting to die.
Drool seeps from his lower lip,
sap of the aged,
as he sits resting, dehydrating,
waiting for life to sing to him
the joys of the unknown.

At the age of twenty
I'm waiting to know.
Tears trickle from my eyes,
suckle of the youth,
as I sit thinking, wondering,
waiting for life to sing to me
the joys of the unknown.
